"I am Simon Lero, the author of Encounters by Moonlight, my very first book.
This story was born
from a long pause, a need to return to basics, and a desire to capture the emotion of memories
through the magic of words. Welcome to my site."
When everything goes quiet,
something begins. Music rises softly like a breath in the silence. It accompanies an unexpected
encounter, suspended between shadow and light.

The Story
Alfred Sisley, a seasoned old man inhabited by melancholy, lives alone,
entrenched from the world. He waits in silence for a sign — that of his one
and true love.
Powerless against the crumbling of time, he tries to overcome his sorrows,
contain his recurring dreams, and soothe his heartbreaking writings,
vestiges of an inner life that is always awake.
His encounter with Joey disrupts this fragile balance. In him,
Sisley recognizes the reflection of his thirty years: an intimate resonance,
a deep unity, an unexpected synergy. Through music—a vibrant echo of his
past—Sisley reopens the doors of his memory.
Between shared silences and whispered confidences, their relationship
becomes a suspended space where the past and present merge. Some encounters
don't come to fill an absence, but to finally give it meaning.
"Where music becomes words..."
AUTHOR'S NOTE
Encounters by Moonlight was born in 2007, after nine months of
writing during a long break dedicated to rest. The book was fully revised and
polished in January 2026.
This suspended time gave birth to a patient writing, attentive to silence and deeply
human. I chose to sign this work under the name Simon Lero in tribute to my
ancestor, a French pioneer settled in America, whose legacy and quiet strength
permeate every line of this story.
"Some encounters do not come to fill a void, but to finally give it meaning."

Harmony of Tears and Notes
People often ask why music is the thread of my narrative. It's because each note expresses what words are unable to say. Mozart, Pachelbel, and so many others played on repeat, dictating the rhythm of my emotions. I cried for every word of this book, letting the melody guide my pen toward a truth that only music can reach.

Alfred Sisley: The Origin of a Name
I am sometimes asked where the name of my main character comes from. The answer is disarmingly simple: "Alfred Sisley" was found quite simply by browsing a dictionary. Sometimes, destiny chooses its faces and names in the silence of words.

Lambton: Mystery and Convertible
The idea for Lambton surfaced during a getaway with a friend at Lake St-François. I can still see that precise moment, in his convertible, hair in the wind. Lambton (Lamb = Agneau)... a deep connection with the heart of the novel. For the rest, I prefer to keep a bit of mystery: you will discover it throughout your reading.

The scent of paper and time
Holding the first proofs was a moment of pure emotion. Beyond the grain, it was the woody scent of ink and fresh paper that struck me—that fragrance that gives life to the dream.

Author's Biography
Under the veil of Simon Lero, I write to capture the essence of fleeting moments
and transform life's fragments into a symphony of words. This pen name is for me a space of
freedom, a way to fade behind my stories and leave all the space to the imagination.
A graduate of Laval University and a geographer by training, my journey
is guided by an insatiable curiosity for the Universe — in both scientific and inner terms. The
mysteries of astrophysics and quantum physics profoundly influence my reflection on time and
memory, themes that dwell at the heart of my storytelling. (I have also written a thesis,
available in my personal showcase or directly on the 4th floor of the Jean-Charles-Bonenfant
Pavilion, in the rare books and theses section).
As Einstein said, imagination is more important than knowledge. Through
my writing, I seek not to convince, but to share a way of looking at the world, of exploring
what unites us and finding a part of wonder in the immensity. My work is intended for those who
take the time, who observe and who know that reflection is sometimes more important than the
answer.
